01 Bishu
In Bishu, the old name for the area around Nagoya, we created a linen-cotton blend Pencil, a recycled wool Mosaic, and a sturdy recyclable clever polyester Marker. All three textiles feature hand-drawing, a direct process for recording hand and body movement that lends a poignant tactile immediacy to the designs. In a very real sense, the woodworking of Karimoku craftspersons and the textile looming of our weavers are also “hand-drawn” traces in form and pattern.
