Chemical Lacework
The traditional 'chemical lacework' process involved first embroidering a pattern on a thin silk or other fabric, which was then immersed in a strong alkali solution to dissolve all but the thin tracery where the embroidery threads were. Now it is more common to use a water-soluble base fabric such as vinylon.
NUNO adapted this chemical lacework to make new fabric.
